I have an acs 5.0 with pm3.0 in the 4th slot configured for 6 ports 34-39 going to five lines. my problem is that my customer isnt aware of a problem on the first co line associated with the first port in the aa. when picking up the first line which is almost always winking the aa tells the person goodbye and gives them dialtone. customers calling in dont complain of any problem. when picking up col 2-5 you immediately get dialtone without the aa messsage. so far we tryed moving it to the 5th slot but the 206 we were going to temp in the 4 slot was bad. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks guys without this resource i would have been sol a few times. smile

If I am reading the post correctly, it looks like when the customer picks up on the 1st telephone line, they hear the auto attendant say "goodbye" and then they hear dial tone. This isn't happening on the other lines (2-5).

Am I close?

Don't know about the winking but it sounds like somebody doesn't know how to retreive their voice messages. They need to press the VM button or dial Intercom 777 BEFORE picking up the handset.

When they pick up the handset first they pick up a line which gets put on hold when the press the VM button or dial Intercom 777. Then when they hang up that line on hold gets transferred to the messaging system. The line button will show steady red at that point, not winking.

What happend if you dial every port separetely?Does it say "Welcom to Avaya Messaging" or "Your call would be transfered"? If the answers is not Welcom then Hal is right they picking up line and then press VM button.
What means first line assosiated with 1st port on AA?

When you call the individual lines the aa picksup and handles the call. even though no call is being processed the first line for the lack of another term intermitently but regular flashes/winks as if an incoming call was being processed by the aa. no calls being lost. when you pickup the first line the aa acts as if it was handling a call in progress says "goodbye" and you get dialtone!!!????? go figure. tryed powering down and reseating but no help.

Do you have extensions set to ring immediately on line 1 and what is the VMS hunt delay set to?

If you had an extension that will ring on that line and the AA picking up on the second or third ring that would help diagnose if there is a phantom ring from the CO. I would set this up temporarily if it doesn't work that way now just to see what happens. See if the line rings and there is nothing there.

I had one time very similar situation. Every time I dialed into VM port was answering and then was giving me a dial tone. Some jork set up ports for emidiate line selection by asigning lines as first off hook choice instead of Icm.
