On a Merlin 820D2, how/where is the back-up battery replaced? Do you have to replace the entire memory module? Also, where is the best place to obtain the necessary parts? Feel free to PM if necessary. I'm going to check with Sundance next week.

Thanks in advance.

The memory mod is in the top of the box

Remove the screw if its there and press in top of the gray panel in the back .
the panel slides forward and you will see a memory mod plugged in

press the release and pull straight out.

turn it over and there is a green pc board with
4 tiny [torx /allen screws ]

remove the screws take out the pc board and there is a yellow battery . They are available at
see pm

I have not done this in about 10 years--but if I remember--be very careful of taking out those tiny screws--also, I had a hard time getting the right size or type tool to fit the screw. I stripped the first two screws that I did. After I got the right tool, there was no problem--although, I remember that some of them were VERY tight.

Thanks guys. I kind of fell into this because I felt sorry for the guys who got sold this system. I had found the memory module and went as far as taking it off the system, but didn't know to open it up.

I'll check the PM Ken, and thanks for the warning JW. I'll be sure and get the right torx before pressing my luck.

Man I missed this board when it was down. :thumb:

Use your wire cutters to grab the screw heads and you can get the screws out without searching all over for the right sized torx. The screws have a pretty aggressive thread, so it dosen't take too many turns to get them out.
