OK I have a customer that is still on a 5.2F9. They are getting intermittent cross talk. I have seen where the paths on the ribbon cable between cabinets have caused this, but it is happening all over the system and even on some call on the same cabinet. Cards have been swapped but the same users are still having the issue. They are on the legacy Standard and Exec phones. The next step I am going to try is when it happens to put the caller on hold then pick it back up to see if it changes. This would point to a cross point issue somewhere in the system. Looking for some suggestions on this one. I don't usually get stumped but this one has me.

I would look at the CO lines. Not saying that it isn't possible, but I've never seen cross-talk on these systems that wasn't related to the CO lines.
To troubleshoot, I'll put tone on line 1 and go looking for it on the other lines. Then move the tone to line 2; rinse, lather, repeat.

Thanks DND ON but these are on a PRI. I agree with you that cross talk is rare on the Axxess but I have seen it. Have you ever heard of cross talk on a PRI or T1? I can't say that I have. Still searching

I too have seen the ribbon cable between cabinets cause this issue. It may be worth replacing even though it's happening within the same cabinet.
I have also seen weird issues involving the terminating resistor not being in the proper location on the 2nd cabinet.
If all else fails, I would look into replacing the CPU. As we all know, a faulty CPU can cause all sorts of crazy issues. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Thanks Stix. Have a call with them in 15 minutes. We are trying to change them to a 5000 er I mean MiVoice and with an Axxess being this old it very well could be the CPU. Support has had my try the "Put the caller on hold then pick them back up" to see if the trouble changes. If it does it is a cross point issue which can occur in a DKSC, PRI or CPU. I will let you know. Thanks.

I've had ribbon cables cause weird problems, but never cross-talk. Need to tuck that away for future reference.

OK after the call today I got the real issue. One extension is being heard by others. The others hear static to the point they cannot hear their call then they hear the one extension. Yup weird. So I tore down the one port and built back from scratch on another port. I will let you know of the turn out.
