We inherited the service of a Vodavi Starplus Triad in our area. Currently, when one particular SLT extension calls in to the attendant (by dialing '0') the display on the attendant phone says "CALL FROM STATION ?248".

This ?248 number is meaningless to the customer, I'd like to change it to the correct number, which is 253. How can I do this?

I do have the manuals, can someone point me in the right direction though? I have never once programmed this system.

Thank you!

That means that through flexible numbering in flash 52, the station port #248 does not have an extension number assigned.

If you call the attendant from that SLT by dialing the attendant station number what appears on the attendants phone? Also: when you call station 248 from the attendant station does the SLT phone ring?

Listen,

When calling the attendant from the SLT the message "CALL FROM STATION ?248" appears on the display.

If I dial 248 from the attendant phone, a different phone in the building rings, but not the one in question.

Ed,

That was my hunch. I have written up a basic set of instructions for myself for programming. It has the password in it, so I have PMed it to you. Can you please take a look real quick and tell me if my steps will fix my problem?

Fixed station port 248 does not have a flexible extension number.
Flex station number 248 is in use.
Fixed station port 248 is assigned an unused flex number in flash 52 programming.

For an installer to leave a working port unassigned is poor form. I doubt that even dialing the station swap code would work when no number is attached. Flash 52 is the way to assign it.

Didn't work for some reason. When I attempt to enter the programming mode, I do not hear a confirmation tone, instead I hear what sounds like a reorder tone? When I press FLASH (to start programming) I get a new intercom dial tone. Dialing 52 just does nothing.

Is it possible the password is no longer the default?? Do I have to hold the flash button while dialing 52??

More than likely, you are correct. The password was changed. You should verify that station 100 is the attendant station by dialing 0 from any phone and make sure that it calls extension 100. Do you know if the system has an optional modem card in it?

Try dialing ext. 499 from any station and see if you get an answer with carrier tone, then check back. After that, we can explore your possible solutions.

No. But you must be in Admin programming mode

I don't think there is a modem in this system (although I haven't tried the 499 test yet). I might try using the software terminal on my laptop. Is any special type of cable needed to connect the laptop to the system? I noticed that on the system itself, there are (2) male RS-232 ports. My computer also has a male RS-232 port. Is all I need a "gender changer"?
