I have a cisco 7940 phone and want to set it up through my POE switch and trixbox, but I do not have a manual or know much about cisco set any info would help.

I would start here: Cisco 79xx phones for Asterisk . I don't use Trixbox, but I think it has an endpoint manager that will configure one of these phones automatically. You may want to check with the Trixbox documentation first. You are also most likely going to run into issues with Cisco 7940 phones using "pre-standard" POE. Unless your POE switch is an older Cisco you will have to do some wire hacking to make it work. Note that in that link there is some debate as to the proper way to do this. If you are only experimenting with one phone, you might be better off with a power adapter.

My big problem is I can not access the setup options of the cisco 7940. I appears to be locked some how. :bang: :bang: :bang:
