Too bad that Sprint got so greedy and shot the moon on buying Nextel. Had they just left things alone, they may have been able to remain as a profitable public utility. It's a shame.

Their wireline customers and sharholders saw this as being a reckless attempt at expanding their fading wireless market share and pulled out their support and investment.

Well what about AT&T; since May the stock price has lost $8.06 A share. I've lost over $13,000+ in my portfolio, a Recession OR DEPRESSION?

You should see what happens whenever they post a story about sprint in the local papers. The comments section fill up almost immediately with... let's just say... negativity. There are a lot of bitter ex and current employees here, as well as lots of disgruntled customers.

Like ya said, it's a shame... at one point they traded over $60... I doubt they'll ever break $10 again.

Was kinda surprised to see Embarq shedding jobs though, my perception was they were doing OK. Maybe they are and just want to keep it that way.

The Overland Park, Kan.-based company said the job cuts will all come from its Network Services organization, which installs and maintains its network, OHHHH FREAKIN' WOW!!! eek

There’s always been an old adage at Telco’s … “the closer you are to the dial-tone the safer you’ll be." (When it comes to cuts.) Network Services is as about as close to the dial-tone as it gets.
