We recently had 8 more extentions put in here. I'm just now trying to get one of the new extentions going and find I can't forward x428 to 6428 (uCMC voice mail) because 6428 isn't in the NPL. I thought the tech would have done this but I guess he missed it. Can anyone give me a hint on how to add new VM numbers (6428-6441) so calls can be forwarded to the uCMC? Thanks in Advance, Mike Berry Grand Junction CO

By default, 6000 to 6999 are programmed in the NPL as public libraries. you will have to go to lib and program each lib to go to voice mail. If you go to lib and display a number that works.(ie. 6422,6423 etc.) You will see how they are programmed. Do the same with 6428-6441. I am asuming that this is for direct transfer to the person voice mail box.

OK looks like our PUBLIC_LIB goes from 6000-6425 so I either need to extend it or create a new one (?) I ran the LIB command and see all the "VM" entries for the old phones. I didn't see a way to create a new public library or modify an existing one. If I can figure out that I'll just set them similarly as suggested. Thanks, our local PBX gurus are too busy to even call back I guess!

Just go to NPL, general, show, public_lib,

this will show you lib numbers are already assigned.

Then Ctl u, add, starting number, ending number, not defined, public_lib, then the next available index number.

This is assuming you are sized to add more. Seeing as your default libs stop at 6425, that could be a big assumption.

This is a level of programming not recommended for amateurs.

please do not duplicate the Index numbers. this can be bad. the libraries may not work correctly.

I'm sure there is some reason that our system is set up this way but I have no idea of what it is... Anyway here is what SHOW PUBLIC_LIB gives:

From To Type Index#
88400 88426 PUBLIC_LIB 427
6000 6425 PUBLIC_LIB 0
498 498 PUBLIC_LIB 426

498 is apparently our MODEM. Since we used to have extension number only up to 425 maybe the installer put the modem (which we don't use) at 426. Anyway the 88400 series contains some voice mail entries that duplicate our old extentions somewhat with some unassigned entries. So being a PBX neophyte I'd be tempted to change 88401 to do VM for x426 or some such.

Thanks for your help, as I said our local rep won't return our calls, too busy or just standard business manors for this town sigh.

Other than not being related, ie 88401 is voice mail transfer for ext 401, it would probably work. It would just be ugly and hard to keep track of.

I would go to NPL and add, starting number (6426), ending number(6450), not defined, public_lib, then the next available index number (455).
hope this helps.

Yes all advice did indeed help. We did what you suggested. I guess the 8~~~ npl's were for a different VM setup that they used to do.

These systems get set up the vogue way and evolve from there I guess.

Thanks for the help, this forum is very valuable.
