Symptoms: Slt phones lose dial tone (go to sleep) to wake them up, call extension it does not ring but answering wakes it up. Or phone has dial tone but does not ring, reseting card wakes up phone.

IPX 500, w/expansion cabinet. The exp cabinet contains 3 16sls cards. Last attempt by support was to change the chips on all SLT cards in both cabinets. I changed power supplies, cabinets, cards, chips, upgraded sotware to 14.67.51. Only happens in expansion cabinet.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I don't know that system at all, but does it use optional DTMF receivers? Many systems require them as add-on items and perhaps you don't have enough to handle the traffic for 48 stations. Just a thought.

Never heard of that before where the analog port goes to sleep. Usually that is in response to the micro breaker kicking in on a surge. YOu might want to check your strappings on the cabinets to make sure they are correct and that the ground is good. Sounds to me like you are losing the second cabinet because jumpers or dip switches are not sending back that terminator signal to the base cabinet.

The IPX500 base cabinet should have by default 8 DTR/8DTD, you might have to license some more if they have heavy traffic. ev, on the IPX500 you can open more DTR right in the software.

I've run across such problem in large cards (24SLS). The symptoms were similar: "phone ... does not ring, reseting card wakes up phone".
The problem happened very rarely and dissapeared by itsef.
On the other side, I know from other engineers about the sleeping slt phones on 24SLS when the switch S/SH was in -SH position. The problem was corrected by installing soft version 4.22 on SLS card.
With IPX 500 I have never heard of that.
As to me, I don't think that Coral is loosing exp cabinet. The number of DTR is not the cause, too.
Please check your S/SH switch...

In the 3000, thanks to me figuring it out and calling the engineers, there was an issue with the MWI lamping in the bigger systems where a MWI was sent and the port would cease to issue dial tone. That is why the older cards seemed to work flawlessly and the new ones did not. That software eprom upgrade seems to have fixed the incompatablitity in the IPX800, 3000 etc.

He is using a 500 exp cab, engineers are aware of the larger systems having issues and the fix is available for them.

The 200's used to have issues with the cabinets wigging out because the shorting terminators were not set properly or the grounding was messed up. I would still check your jumpers and make sure they are setup correctly. I also JUST looked at your software level for 14.67....seems low to me. Last 14.67 I put in was 14.67.58 and I had issues with SH cards on an 800 exp cabinet.

Sleepy phone syndrome revisited.

The last thing Tadiran had me do is replace the main cabinet, the connecting cable btween cabinets and 6 eproms one the SLS cards to 4.23.

Because this is a school we were not able to change anything until the summer. And most phones are not used during this period.

But school is back in session and so are the sleepy phones. All affected phones are in the expansion cabinet.

So here we go again.

Ask for new card firmware that solves this issue.
It's number should be greater than 4.23
