seo is pretty much covered here, for Larry, unless he has specific questions.

I just wanted to add and re-enforce test-ok's suggestion about investing in a logo.

Too often I have seen people, especially new businesses not pay enough attention to having a logo professionally done.
- they try to do it themselves or use clip-art...

A logo is the face of any business and goes on everything... letterhead, biz cards, website, newsletters, etc....

Dang, no body like my logo...I think it is simple, but it describes our company.

Tom, when you say "google bar" I assume you mean the Google Free search that you put on your web page?

Would I be better off making individual pages that for each city we service and having those city names appear in the title?

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it!

Google bar:
https://toolbar.google.com/?promo=mor-tb-en
it is a tool for your browser.

that's one way, I would suggest making a page for Location where you are and where you service keeping in mind how I wrote it above. One for products with a lot of the same information one for About you again with some of the same info. just said differently. Links, links, and links, you need them, which will help.
Now i don't know much about java, I would look into what Roland said about your site. You should take him up on the " free comprehensive review" and for god sake post a post in the Logo thread laugh

OK, so I have updated my web page a bit, including the logo.

The google toolbar has a function on it called "pagerank" that "rates" your pages based on Googles pagerank system.
Anyone concerned about search engine placement should also google "pagerank". Some of the articles that will come up are well worth reading.

Last, you might want to look into joining Google's "Pay per click" service. For a minimal fee, your ads will pop up in certain specific google searches (those ads that show up on the right hand side of the google search results page).
We make up for the expense of using the service by alowing pay-per-clicks to be posted on our web site.

Google's page rank will give you a general
indication of your website's "popularity".
It is just a general indicator that gets updated
from time to time.

Important is the number of relevant in-bound
links to your site. In general, the more links
the better.

For a more accurate account of your website's
popularity... there are a bunch of online tools
to measure popularity. Plus, you can always
check it directly by searching on "link:yourwww"
or "link:https://yourwww"

Hi NFCphoneman...

I would clean your code a bit too... all of these are unnecessary meta tags...

Code
<META NAME="robots" CONTENT="FOLLOW,INDEX">
<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="indust 010">
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tlrb">\
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">
Also something that hasn't been mentioned yet... that I think is the MOST important part of your keyword strategy...

KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) if you were to look at your server logs and find your best keywords (the most entered keywords) and capitalized on those you'd have a great start...

KEI will tell you this - how many other web sites are using that keyword/phrase? And then it's run through a mathmatical filter to give you an approximation of your chances. IE: Here's your sites first keywords... now according to this chart I'd make changes then once happy with my keywords... use them in "title" "keyword meta" "description" h1 -h3's first 35 words of text and last 25, first three alt tags, and last three alt tags Here\'s your KEI Report

The higher the KEI the better your likely hood to rank for those keywords. And you'll also notice that the three keywords with less than ten searches per day can probably go wink

That should have you off and running! Also after all that's done... submit your website to all of the directories (hand Jam 'em) with your keywords as titles wink That's going to help a lot!

hope that helped...
