Hey guys I need some knowledge. I am trying to dial into 1 of my lawyers's esi systems and I am getting crc errors at 24K of the up load can someone give me some advice. I know the next question is going to be what size system is it I THINK it is a 128plus at least that what it is telling me when I first started building it. This customer is a friend of mine and wants some changes made. If someone can tell me what I should do next would be a big help.

I hope Grider or the great Phone Sol will jump in and pass on some knowledge. Upstaney or 5 years give me some knowledge so I can learn what my next step should be.

Thanks in advance for all the help

Dial in with Hyperterminal. You'll probably see some trash coming in.

Try going as low as 2400 baud, and see if you notice any improvements.

Try calling in on their number (assuming it's part of a hunt group) , keep that line busy while having your modem dial the same number. This will make sure you're trying a different line, in case the first line is "dirty".

Shut off any compression, and other extras, on your modem. I've had better luck dialing into the ESI systems with compression and other stuff turned off.

That's really about all I can say that would be able to help you. I've had problems dialing into sites. Some I just can't get into. Others, I change to a different PC and different modem, and can get in. The list of things I gave you to try, in addition to trying a difference PC and/or a different modem are pretty much my whole arsenal.

Good luck, I've found the modem connection on esi to be unreliable at best. I only sell ones with nsp cards now. An internet connection is almost fool-proof.

That is, until the customer's I.T. guy changes out the router and doesn't put your port forwarding into the new router, or puts it back in wrong. That's now happened to me at least 3 or 4 times, all different sites. These are usually I.T. vendors, making it take a while to get it fixed. Usually, the next time the customer asks for remote programming, I tell them I no longer have access (let them know why), and have to come onsite. This usually ends up speeding up the process of having the port forwarding reprogrammed.

Hey Guys

Here is an update to this thread I got a call from the customer and had to go out there today so I pluged into the system on site and got a clean down load of the programming and now the customer is happy.

Thanks to all

:bang: I did have one IT guy that kept removing the port forwarding for "security reasons".

I had given him a copy of esi-admin because he wanted to administer the phone system. What he really wanted was a copy of esi-access and the installers password. He "thought" it would be easier on us for him to do all the programming because I wouldn't have to call him to open the port. So I "thought" it would be easier on him if I had the network admin password so I could open the port when needed. After all I have an MCSE and he doesn't have any esi certifications.

clap So now he just leaves the port open.
