CABINET 2 ARRANGEMENT:

WE ARE EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE VOICEMAIL PORTION OF THE SYSTEM.

-UNABLE TO RETRIEVE VOICEMAIL
-WHEN VOICEMAIL BUTTON IS SELECTED, IT CALLS OPERATOR STATION
-NORMALLY,OUTSIDE CALL AFTER HOURS SYSTEM SHOULD AUTO-PICK UP AND DIRECT TO VOICEMAILBOX,BUT NOW SYSTEM JUST RINGS AND NO PICK UP.

NOTE:
A WEEK AGO,WE WERE ABLE TO RESET THE VM8A BY PUSHING THE RESET BUTTON ON IT.BUT THIS TIME THE SAME TRICK DOESN'T DO IT. REPEATED DOZEN TIMES ALREADY BUT NO SUCCESS.

Sometimes turning power off to the cabs will rescue it. If its still dead its probably the hard drive and will need your dealer to sort.

I think it time to call an tech out. When calls route to the operator group or when transfer calls are routed to the operator group. The VM system is down. If you have power cycled the system has many times as stated in you post, you will either have the vm system repaired or replaced. The tech can reroute calls if needed to another group or station. That is an older system and parts will need to be searched for on the web. No telling how long that might take.
Good Luck

Hi lucas,

Welcome to the forum.

As stated above, you are going to need to contact a tech in your area. If you need help find a tech, just let me know.

Also... you might want to consider turning off the CAPS lock. :thumb:

my observation on dcs prostar:
expn a and expn b red led lights are steady "on"
rom 2 red led light "blinking"
vm8a run red led "on", hdd green led light "on" for almost a minute and then goes "off".
is this a normal scene?

Yes it can be all related if the programming has defaulted. As for the lights on the vm. You are going to need to have it RR'd. The dealer you have will have to handle this for you though.

Seven months have passed and still haven't fixed the problem. My Supervisor ordered another Cadence VM8A in the hope of fixing the problem. AFter installing the new cartridge, the problem is still there. Does the Cadence VM8A need programming? Or the whole system need re-programming? Who does that? The voicemail need to be fixed this time as we are getting busier. Please help.

Here is a dose of reality Lucas. The Samsung Cadence in my humble opinion after 26 years in telecom is, in layman's terms - crap. In the period of 1999-2001 we had at least 40 complete failures out of 80 installations.

You cannot encase a PC platform in a plastic case with no fan, surrounded by other warm cards and a power supply and expect anything but failure.

Do yourself a favor and ditch the Cadence and put in the appropriate software and a flash-based SVMi-8 voice mail. No moving parts, etc, very little heat generation.

Our record with ONE account in 2000 was replacing their Cadence and/or hard drive 7x times in one year.

My other advice, if you can afford it, is find an good local dealer that will sell you a Samsung 7200-S phone system, carry over your current phones, and leave the DCS behind.

Email sent with misc info on the Cadence + 7200S info; we are too far to service you but I am sure there must be qualified dealers in your area. With the info I sent you, a good non-Samsung tech MAY be able to figure it all out in time.
