We currently have a Comdial DXP and believe the CPU is going out or has gone out. It is a DXCPU-68K SW rev 12A
If we ordered a new CPU and swapped it and the new cpu has a different sw than the old one will any information be lost. The DXRam is also Rev B the system is very old... Thanks for all helpful replies.

You have multiple areas for concern. Yes all be lost unless you can restore your old database. Depending on the level of CPU your existing Services board may have to be upgraded. Your new CPU may have restricted software that won't allow specific telephones to work on it.
