First I am not a computer guy, but can usually figure this stuff out eventually. I've played with this for hours, neither Qwest help or Belkin have resolved this.

I put a Belkin Wireless G notebook card in my IBM T30. I turn on wireless in the gt701 installed the Belkin and it doesn't see a wireless signal, I change to let windows control the connection and it still doesn't see it. I've followed all the instructions for both the gt701 and the Belkin G so many times I've lost count, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless card numerous times. I would think even if a code was wrong, which I doubt, it would at least see a wireless signal. Any ideas would be appreciated. My head hurts and I need a toddy or two to make me forget. laugh

EDIT: To add, laptop says the device is working. Windows says I may need to turn on wireless switch, I find no switch hardware or software and searching the Internet doesn't say anything about a switch on the T30 to turn wireless on or off.

Thanks

Does the built-in wireless work?

I looked around and didn't see a built in, I did see that on the WEB so it must be an older version. One of the many sites I looked at said the older ones didn't have the built in. Thanks for the response.

Some laptops have a separate on/off switch for the built-in. Try a USB adapter. I just bought one for 35. If your pcmcia network adapter will not fire up it's possible the slot has been damaged.

Thanks Jim. I would assume the slot is good since the laptop says it see's the Belkin and it's working properly, I could be wrong though. I know logic doesn't always work on these new fangeled machines. laugh

Worked with Belkin tech support (India), they said the card was bad, got another same thing. Per the installation guide the light should go green on the adapter, but it just flashes amber, twice in all this messing around it's "found" a wirless signal but I couldn't connect to it. I'm heading out of town tomorrow and wanted it for wirless service, hotspots, but guess that won't happen. Thanks for the advice Jim.

Jim the USB adaptor did the trick. Don't know why the card didn't work, but as long as I have wireless who cares. Thanks for the suggestion. :thumb:

i personally love the usb wireless cards because you can put them where you get the best signal
also usb ethernet cards are great when configureing a new build
