Hiya guys, hope you're all well.

Has anyone experience of Telrad DECT and the Kirk DECT phones? I've a 2nd user MCC card, several RFP4 repeaters but no handsets.

The customer for this kit has no budget to buy proper Kirk Telrad sets and I notice a well known auction site has kit for peanuts that looks possibly like it might work. Does it have to be Telrad sets or would anyone bet say a Polycom Kirk 2010 DECT phone might work?

My thanks in advance. Andy

Never did one, but I know they list 3rd party DECT phones in their feature guide. Needed a license for each GAP phone with different GAP profiles for different types. I think one of the phones was a Kirk 4020, some of the Siemens sets would work. Don't remember. We were going to deploy a bunch of these at one time but the cost scared off the customer. I believe use of the third party GAP phones came out with the E2E1 releases.

Yes it has to be the Telrad 3040 phones. You are going to need a windows 98 PC to program also. The software will not run on XP.

Well I bit the bullet and bought some non-Telrad Kirk sets. The Polycom 4040 unit works fine with a bit of tweaking and the MFP bases right next to it, and I should get the Polycom Kirk 2010 sets next week. Fingers crossed they roam correctly and I don't get software issues...

You're right the cost of Telrad DECT is horrendous - hence my messing around with cheap refurb kit!

I can confirm that Polycom 2010 DECT sets register with my testbed 3.13G system just fine.

I'm confused as to the licensing requirements - if you set the config DECT type as 'Connegy' is there no license needed? I've no GAP licenses on the IPEX2 but I've managed to get 6 sets registered Ok. Presumably GAP licenses are needed for some 3rd party DECT models, though I'd have thought Polycom DECTs would qualify...

Time will tell whether I encounter issues.

Andy
