I know nothing about Shortel.
But I am trying to get MOH player connected.
I have it connected to the Shortel but on hold - nothing.

The ShoreTel Director says Small Business Edition 100 Build 19.45.8701.0
Since I know nothing about shortel I do not know what needs to be done to enable the external source.
I see: MUSIC ON HOLD
Internal Calls - now says None but did try to change to Jack Based.
File Based System Default: Tried to change that to Jack Based.

Tried going to Primary Switch.
Check the box for MOH but when click on SAVE it said something about 10+0 = 10 then gave a red lettering error - can't remember what it said.

My JOB was to just connect the player to system. But this system needs Config modified.
So not really part of my job, but trying to help customer.
Otherwise he will have to find himself a ShoreTel tech to come out to site.

Any tidbits of help is appreciated.
Thanks

Jim

Same boat: I don't know ShoreTel, however...

I did find this YouTube video. It starts with using a file rather than an input source but perhaps there "might" be something in the video that helps.

Thanks for that link. It does answer a couple of questions, but now it looks complicated due to this is not my customer and I have no clue what phone lines they have or GROUPs. I was there just to connect the MOH Player. I was hoping there would be a box to click saying, "Enable MOH". Which there was but that did not work.
BUT - now I know they do need to call a ShoreTel Tech.

I do appreciate that link.
Thanks for that reply.

Anybody near Cincinnati, Ohio that knows ShoreTel?

It is possible that another switch is already set as a MOH source. You can only have 1 source per site, although it should still let you check the MOH source check box.

It sounds like you have access to the Shoreware Director. I hope that you are using only Internet Explorer and not any other browser. That version of Shoretel should support IE version 11.

If you look on the Primary Platform hardware and scroll to the right, the summary should show you which Shoretel switch is setup for the jack based MOH source. In my testing I was able to select multiple sources. I would make sure only one is set as the source. In most cases the other default settings should be OK, but just make sure you set the default source back to Jack Based. The internal calls doesn't really matter.

There are 2 jacks on the Shoregear switch, one for paging and the other as the music source. The MOH jack should be able to connect using either a mono or stereo plug. Here is a bit more information about the plug.

The video linked above describes setting up a file based MOH source. Unless the customer has a specific need for a MOH player, this is what I use. The 2 issues I have are that the music is usually a bit loud and the file always starts at the beginning of the file, rather then at a random part of the music.

Thanks for that info.

This site has two units: Shoregear 30 and Shoregear 220 T1A
I do not know Shoregear so I do not know which one has what on it.
I do not know if one is the Primary or maybe neither is Primary.
I am now thinking that these units are nothing and that there is another PC called the server
that would do all this and it could be offsite also. I hope that info is right.

The 30 unit already had a plug in it - as if it was used in the past, but presently blank air was on hold.
I tried the MOH connector on BOTH units but neithe one did anything.

The customer had access to the director and I found the MOH had no check mark.
When checking that box and then saving it gave an error.

There was also a place we clicked on PRIMARY but didn't do anything either.
Right now it is on hold - waiting for a ShoreTel tech to check it out.

THANK YOU all for the info - helps me understand the unit a little better.

A Shoretel system always has a Windows based server that manages the system, and then the Shoregear switches that manage the calls.

I prefer to use file based MOH nowadays. I just took out a defective MOH unit and enabled file based MOH. Early versions of Shoretel did not have that option.

I didn't notice your post earlier because I don't usually see many new posts in the Shoretel Forums. Lately I just pop in to see if there is any new threads in the Installer or Toshiba forums.
