Hi

I am attempting to assist a remote site get their paging system going as they switch over to a cisco phone system.

The site has a cisco 4331 router with a a FXO card installed. The paging system is a valcom pagepac 6 plus.

I was able to find a manual for the unit, however its not too clear. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My main question is: for paging purposes can the pagepac plus be connected via the FXO port?

If so, should it connect to J4 or J5?

I already have call manager and the gateway to deliver a call to the fxo port when the page code is dialed, and to send a '7' to the pagepac when a call hits the port. 7 is the all page code. And I currently have the fxo port plugged into J4 on the pagepac. This was performed by a tech we had visit the site to install the router cards. I don't have access to the site (without driving 8 hours) or I could just try moving the rj11 to J5.

I see the call hit the port via debug ccapi, however the call fails with a 'no circuit' error.

Any help anyone can give on the pagepac 6 plus would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I can answer my own question - I had contacted Valcom previously and did not receive a reply. I did so again and this time got one. The unit will not support paging via FXO port. It has to be an FXS port... a bummer but good to finally have an answer

UPDATE!!! - I was given bad information! For the pagepac 6plus an FXO port MUST be used in Jack J5 - configured as loopstart - you can 'prefix 7' in the dial-peer if you always want to do an 'AllPage'
