Hi everybody. I'm new here and could really use some help. I have a car dealership full of executone model 18 and 32 phones. We have been using the page all function by dialing 60 for about three years now, instead of using extensions.

First of all, how can I either find or set an extension to each phone. After I learn the extensions, how can I dail them? How can I transfer calls?

After reading the user guide, I still have not had any luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your help.

Hello Andrew and welcome to our forum. You have come to the right place for support.

Identifying each extension is fairly simple. Just dial 0 from each extension and view the calling extension number on the receiving display.

To call them, just dial the extension number.

To transfer, just hit the Tran/con button while the caller is on the line and dial the desired extension.

My memory is quickly failing on this system, but I thought that might get you started until someone with better knowledge of your system can step in to assist.
OR:

On the model 32 phones, press the # key while the phone is ' idle ' and look at the display, it will show you the name and last 3 digits of the ext#

Knowing that You could take a Model 32 phone around to all the Model 18 phone locations ,plug in the 32, then press #, get the info, and plug the Model 18's back in.

I was able to find all the extension numbers by using a model 32 phone and holding the # button, although I still cannot call the extensions. Dialing the extension numbers does not work. Transfering calls does not work either. What else can I do?

Are the extensions more than 3 digits?
They may be four digits, likely prefaced with a 3. Using # on a model 32 will show you just the last three digits of the extension number.
I tried with a 3 in front of the three digit extension, but it will only let me dial one number. Any more than one number gives me an error message.

Is there a button I should press before I try to dial the extensions? Am I doing something wrong? It seems so simple but it just won't work!!

Thanks for all your help in the meantime.
Did you try a different lead number?
what do you get when you dial the ext. number, fast bsy; bsy; somthing on the display, silence?
They also could be setup with 3 digit dialling. If that's the case then if you go to a M32 set and press # to get it's extension say 013 then it's extension would be 313.
Keep in mind that it is also possible that the dial plan has been changed and the extensions may start with a different digit.
Default should have been 4 digit extensions starting at 3001.
The M series telephones also may not have a Transfer button unless they were programmed onto the sets.
Thanks everybody, but I tried all of this. My problem now is the phones only allow me to dial one digit. For example, when I try to dial the extension 313, I get an error message after I dial the second digit. It allows me to dial only one digit. When I do dial this single digit, nothing happens.

Could my problem be in the programming? If so, is there a way to reset the system to default? Any ideas?
where in PA are you?

You can PM me back if you don't want everybody to know.
I guess a good question at this point is whether or not the phones are picking internal dialtone when they go off hook or are they prime lined to a trunk or LCR.If they are prime lined to a trunk, you can dial 2? before you pickup the handset to get internal dialtone.

The IDS system has flexable first digits, if the previous tennate prefered they could had had any digit as the first digit of the intercom number. try dialing 1013 then 2013 3013,4013,5013 ect. since you get an error tone after the third digit i would bet the first digit is a 5.
