Hi, I have this system and are going to install it in the house.
I have only the manuals in english, and don't really know all the tech terms.
I am norwegian smile
So... where do I connect the "landline" specifically? wink
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/11/16 09:30 PM
Is it... TELCO - CO ?
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/12/16 04:47 PM
Ok, I think I got it, but I get no dial tone..
I dial 701 and it says its out of ordet.
Also everything programmed is deleted when power is shut down smirk
Including time/date

The system is going to be more hassle than its worth, its possibly around 20 years old.

Look for a officeserv 7000 series system and you should be able to keep your existing digital handsets for the new system.

Hmmm, thing is.. I got this for free,
and plan is to use it in the house.
Mainly for an intercom to the garage and office/guestroom above the garage..
I wish not to spend much money.
I'm getting familiar with it, and it has more than enough functions for me (us)
I've just ordered a new battery for the ram-pack.
The most hassle so far is getting info online smile

Co lines should connect on the first 4 pairs if it is the same as the US system. White/blue would be line 1 White/Orange line 2 etc.Make sure your amphenol is seated correctly. The Samsung systems program pretty much the same. The Compact is less featured of course but the basics of the features and programming run throughout. For the battery I have used a rechargeable battery for a cordless phone and they work just get one that's 3.6V.
An old system yes but they do work. The Ram battery is probably the biggest issue given the age.
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/13/16 10:42 PM
Thank you smile
Should this work without programming and dial 701 first?

I've been working in telecom for almost 20yrs,
but mostly with fibre and CO-lines and inside the CO.. so i'm abit rusty with this, and the english tech terms smile
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/13/16 11:20 PM
Yes, as long as the line is connected you should be able to dial access the line with 701.Even dialling 9 will probably get you line 1 as the system can see the other trunks aren't connected. If you get Out Of Service when you dial 701 then either the trunk is not connected or the trunk port /card is bad. It's looking for battery voltage to tell when the trunk is connected.
To be honest until you get a battery in the Ram card it's not worth programming as the system will default every time it loses power or you turn it off.Like I said the Compact may be old but was and still is a very reliable system.

Great, thanks again!
I will mount the battery when it arrives.
And hope I can use this thread if I have more issues later smile
Nice to know there are people out there who knows and are willing to help laugh
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 07:11 PM
I have now replaced the battery, and it holds the memory at power down.
I connected the IP phone adapter to pair one,
and also checked it has 46 volts..
But it still says out of service when i dial 701.. smirk
What to do next?
Possible to check if the port is blown?
..it is the same with all 4 ports..
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 07:28 PM
espen,
I am assuming that your system is like ours here in North America. The trunk ports should connect on the first 4 pairs. What cards do you have in the system? And if you can get into programming go into the system numbering plan which here is mmc 724.If you volume up from the cursor being under station it should go to the trunk numbers. If there are numbers there like 701 then there is a trunk card installed.First step though let me know what cards you have. You can always send me a pic if you want just PM me
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 07:46 PM
This appears:

DIAL NUMBER PLAN
TRK001:701 ->

Cards installed are..
2SLI - Analog phones?
BRI - ISDN ?
6DLI - Digital keysets?
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 07:54 PM
Ok,
Yes the 2SLI is 2 analog ports, 6DLI are 6 digital extension ports

Your "problem" is the BRI ISDN card is looking for digital trunks (ISDN ) so analog trunk ports are not going to work with that card.
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 07:57 PM
May it work if i take out the BRI card?
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 07:58 PM
You need to either install an analog trunk card or get ISDN trunks.
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 08:03 PM
Ahh ok, I thought it had analog trunks on the main board smirk

I'll see if I can get one of those..
Do they come in different types?
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 08:13 PM
I'm not sure what you can get there. In North America ISDN never really took hold . Here we have a 4 port trunk card that mounts on the main motherboard. And if there is an expansion kit we can install 2X4 trunk cards with 2 trunk ports and either 4 digital or analog extensions .So your cards there are a little different.Do you have the European manual it should show what's available or I'm sure someone on the board here in Europe will help you out.

Are your sure it's a compact or is it a Compact 2?
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 08:26 PM
Yes, I am sure it is Compact
There is a slot for 4COP card..
I suppose thats the one smile
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 08:28 PM
Should be I'm not sure if it's the same card we have here or not.
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 08:32 PM
ISDN came after analog modems
and before Adsl..
And then fibre optics smile
ISDN was a somewhat big deal for some time,
people used it for internet and could call at the same time, or they doubled the speed.
We had practically only one internet provider at the time, they milked every bit of the technology smirk
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 08:34 PM
When I see pictures of this card, it seems it will fit in the slot.
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/18/16 09:49 PM
There are several on eBay..
But the price is just too high to pass customs.
Customs services in Norway are expensive.
Do you know other places to look for 4COP Cards?
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/20/16 07:39 AM
I just got lucky with my bidding.
A card located in Florida is on its way smile
Hope I can use it smile
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 04:14 PM
I just got it connected, and the digital phone 201 started ringing immediately smirk

I disconnected it and tried to make a call with one of the other phones, when choosing the trunk, the phone starts to call 500

Any ideas?
How do I get a trunk dial tone?
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 05:48 PM
A phone usually calls the 500 group when you dial 0 internally.Did you install the card? There is mmc 806 where you tell the system when you put a new card in it unless you default it or have the battery of for the ram card backup.Try that first and look again in mmc 724 and make sure that there are trunk port numbers assigned to the 4COP card. Those codes are what you can dial to access a trunk. If you haven't done any programming yet it's probably best to take out the BRI trunk card and default the system with the 4COP trunk card installed.
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 05:52 PM
Yes I installed tha 4COP card, the BRI card is out already.
If I turn off the battery RAM, will all programming be lost?

Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 06:24 PM
It is only phone 201 that is ringing, and CALL1 and CALL2 is blinking red...
It says call for 500 in the display

If it helps resetting everything and turning battery off, i'll just do the programming over again
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 06:36 PM
I reset it, a bit eager here smile
But it still does exactly the same.
Seems there are incoming on Call1 and Call2
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 08:05 PM
So what happens if you answer the call at 201? I don't know if the card would be North American and there would be a different European version?
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 08:11 PM
It looks like i answer the one line,
and the other still blinks. .
Silent in the handset.

Our phone system has around 48 volts when standby..

I think it is the same.. smirk
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 08:27 PM
I bought both these cards, there's some difference to them though. .

Just got the one yet

Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/30/16 11:20 PM
So what happens if you unplug 201?
Or what happens if you only have 201 plugged in?
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 02:03 PM
Same thing when only 201 is connected.

When 201 is not connected, nothing happens,
and when I call 701 or 702 it says line is busy.
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 02:16 PM
Probably happens because 201 is the only station in the 500 group. So this only started when you added the 4COP card? What ring voltage and frequency do you use there? And a co line is 48v when on hook? I still wonder if that card is compatible with your lines? I would be interested to see if you put DT XXX keys for the lines on the phone to see what happens. When you answer that 500 call you said you get silence ,what does the display on the phone show?
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 02:54 PM
When calling the line normally sends
25 Hz and about 90 V
On hook is actually -48v

I know people have baught phones in the US and used them over here..

When answer the call it acts just like i expect it would normally do, and theres another call waiting..
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 03:01 PM
So when you answer this call what is on the display of the phone?
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 03:11 PM
The timer fof the call starts.
The CO line 701 show
And bottom says Konf Page Mute

When I choose the other call - button
It shows next CO number 702 and when I
Choose the first again it shows 703 and then 704 and goes back to 701...
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 03:23 PM
So what if you disconnect the lines from the system? I am trying to see if the card is "ringing in" with these calls or if the trunks are causing it. You don't have 4 trunks connected do you?
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 03:30 PM
I have only one trunk,
That is a ip phone adapter
It works with analog phones

When only the 201 and no trunk is connected it still rings..
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 03:34 PM
And it only happens when the 4 COP
Is installed
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 03:44 PM
e here.So there is something about that card the system doesn't like. I assume that your software supports the 4COP card but I'm sure it is different software that we have.
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 03:49 PM
How should the 4cop show in mmc806

It says Basic 4 trunk?

Sorry..
Edit smile
Posted By: pvj Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 04:07 PM
Sounds right.I don't know what else to tell you unless that card is defective. But I've never seen one bad before to be honest.
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 03/31/16 04:38 PM
Ok, i'll see when the other card arrives smile

Thanks alot!
Posted By: Espen Re: Samsung dcs compact - 12/07/16 10:22 PM
Sorry for bringing this up again..
In my quest for getting this system to work with my Voip, I have found this :

https://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/e...ategory=104250&pm=1&ds=0&t=1481148671687

Question is.. are there any similar products more affordable?
I'd like to give this a try smile
