Has anyone ever had problems with POTS lines from a T-1 to an Adtran going to a CO card in a MP-5000? it is dropping calls quite frequently. It seemed to be fine when they were using copper lines.

"Dropping" sounds like slipping to me. Anything monitoring the lines for errors? What's MP-5000? Is that a T-1 card?

Are your lines coming from an Adtran IAD?

Low line voltage will cause this on most any system. I'm sure this is your case since today's service providers consider dial tone to be all that is required. They fail to comprehend that systems are/were designed to work with decades-old standards for voltages, loop current and supervision.

When a line is place on hold, a bridge (or fixed resistance) is placed across the trunk port that was designed using industry standards for line voltages in the 48-56 range. IADs and many channel banks only put out line voltages in the low 30's.

When you have a situation where one of the factors in a simple equation of resistance with direct proportion current and voltage in the functionality of a circuit, you will soon find yourself banging your head against a brick wall with the service provider.

I wish I had better news. I think you already know that the problem isn't with the MP-5000.

There is a low voltage setting in the adtran programming. I had this problem on a Samsung system and corrected it by having the provider make this adjustment.

Adtran AID -yes, I did ask the provider to test the voltage, your right if you have dial tone it's not their problem!
You"re saying the Adtran has a voltage setting, I'll have them check it.
Thanks Guys!!
