i am a maint. person for a small company wishing to install a unisyn system model TO616. (please dont laugh, we're moving up) i dont see any threads on this model so i'm thinking maybe it's an older system. anyway, my problem is that station 10 will not access a dial tone on line one. it does however goto 'itcm' upon pickup. i have been working from the system manual, which i purchased online. i believe the manual number is imi66-ii2. the problem arose right after attempting to set line six to an auxillary line, for use with an external paging amp. switching phones to that jack produces the same trouble. i'm not a total idiot (i dont think anyway), as i do some automation programming for some of our machines. my manual does not offer any trouble-shooting. thanks in advance for any help you may have...

So station 10 is messed up! Because you may have caused other issues, start with defaulting station 10. That should be 3.4.4 in your manual. This will put 10 back at factory default settings.

nope, i had done that, also have defaulted the lines, and the system, and did a master clear.

If you have master cleared the system, connect several other sets. Like 12, 13, 14, 15. You may a port issue on line 1.

i have 10 and 12 setup in my office. i have (and i did again) swapped phones at the wall jacks. the problem moved to 12. i notice now after the master clear, that 12 now goes to 'itcm' upon pickup, and has a steady tone, which 10 does not. note, that when 10 is plugged into jack 12, it works fine when i press one of the six line buttons. in this case line one.

These two sentneces appear to contradict each other. The trouble either moves with the phone or stays with the jack, and there lies your answer as to what is bad. The port or the phone.

Intercom dial tone is the off hook selection by default.

after swapping the phones i have returned them to the org jacks. the problem i believe is with the port as both phones work fine when using jack (or port) 12. so we can say port 10 is not giving my station 10 a dial tone when i press line one button. for testing purposes this system is only wired to one phone line. as stated before, the problem showed up just after attempting to assign auxiliary line condition to line port 6, using station 10.

further info: station 10 cannot page station 12 and there is no audible ringing tone at #10. station 12 is able to page #10, and there is an audible tone from #12 during the call. also noted, #12 lcd shows a 10 when paging and #10 does not show a 12 in the lcd when paging 12.
