Old STS system, put in by a guy long since retired.
Cust survived COVID but things are real tight, as they are with all of us.

VM crashed
I have a spare from system taken out of service.
Easy peasy, right ?

Trying to understand how it was set up.
Cust says AA answers
press 2 for sales
Rings 3 stations in turn briefly ( 2 rings each) then goes to VM for X 148

press 3 for service
Rings 3 stations in turn briefly ( 4 rings each) then goes to VM for X 106
Don't see how that could be.

The CO lines have a preset forward to an ext in programing that says RXXX1
Never saw that before, no idea what that means.

I've been looking at hunt groups but there were none set up
Seems like an all ring hunt group is the answer
But I can't see how to get the unanswered call to the desired VM MBX

Any help would be appreciated, soon please

I do not believe the STS had Virtual ports. Of course I'm think of like version 1.0 😂

I guess it depends upon what you mean by "virtual ports". For stations, you can identify the station type as 9 for "virtual". You can then program that station for pretty much anything you'd use for physical extensions. As for virtual mailboxes, if they are designated in the 200s, those mailboxes are generally used for use by non-existent extensions. Of course, these parameters can be changed in programming.

So how can I do this ?

Cust says AA answers
press 2 for sales
Rings 3 stations in turn briefly ( 2 rings each) then goes to VM for X

Or
AA answers
Press 2
Hunt group rings
Then goes to vm

The key is to determine what option #2 actually transfers the caller to. It could be one of several hunt group types, or call coverage using a virtual extension number. Once you're able to determine this, then we can devise the best way to handle it.
