We have the Toshiba Strata DK telephone system and want to add caller ID onto the main phone which is a DKT2020SD. Does this phone have the capability? Or do we need to purchase a separate caller ID box?
Thanks.

To get caller ID on the Toshiba Strata systems, you need to have an TCIU card installed. I am not certain if the Strata 16e could handle that piece of equipment. I know that the 40i can, but it has to be a TCIU2, if I am not mistaken.
Posted By: Voyager Re: Caller ID - 05/03/05 09:48 AM
For lines 1-4, you will need the TCIU card which plugs directly onto the TCOU in the main cabinet. Then Programs *50, *51 and *52 wil make it all come together!

i was just installing a rciu/rcis today and it had been quite awhile. the main thing is to assign the line to the circuit on the rciu/rcis
and the phone must be assigned ringing on the
co. 3 out of 4 worked right away. one didn't, probabley no service on that line.

I'd like to add caller ID to Toshiba DK-96. What board do I need to accomplish this?
Posted By: Old blond hippity hopping Bunnie Re: Caller ID - 03/26/06 11:07 PM
David: Can't add Caller ID to the DK-96, no card was made for that feature on the DK24/56/96. You have an old workhorse that will last just about forever but will never give you modern features.

However, if you are not using more than 6 slots, you could put a newer processor in the CPU slot. Cards in the 2nd and 3rd shelf will not be addressed by the CPU.

It is possible to use your station and CO cards in a DK 280 or DK 424 and then buy a RCIU/RCIS card for Caller ID. I've never tried to drive Caller ID to an electronic phone (6520SD) so I don't know if that would work. If you added a PDKU digital station card and either 2010SD or 2020SD phones you would for sure get Caller ID on those new phones.

If anyone knows you can push Caller ID to a 6520SD you could add a post.

Martin: You are assigning a dial tone, 001, 002, etc. to a circuit on the RCIU/RCIS.

When a phone RINGS for a line that has been assigned to a circuit on the RCIU/RCIS it will show the Caller ID. You are assigning dial tones to circuits, not extensions to circuits.

You should be able to have Caller ID for 8 dial tones if you have a a RCIU/RCIS combo card in the 424.

Another caller-id question.

When I pick up a ringing call, the phone immediately starts timing. I would prefer the caller-id message stays on, or at least stays on for a few seconds. Is this possible?

Please ringtone, what system? You have caller ID working now? On the CTX/CIX you can program how long the display does what.

These boxes certainly could be modified to insert a line of type that does not post, saying:

"Tell us the name of the phone system, and/or the voicemail system to receive a reply."

I'm sure your callers appreciate you answering so promptly, we can answer promptly too when we know what system we are talking about.

And do you have a manual, and if you have a CTX/CIX do you have a laptop with admin software?
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 04/05/06 07:29 AM
Good point. I should be more careful.

System: CTX 100
Programming method: WinAdmin

My system has caller id working well. I just would prefer to see the caller name and phone number to a timer. I figured that this was possible with programming, but I needed a hint as to the location.

Thank you,
John

It's under system timer on the current software release and might not be on your CTX release.
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 04/06/06 09:19 PM
There is a System Timer option with 23 possible timers. Any idea which one would make the caller id info stay on longer?

Thank you,
John

If you don't see a 26, it's not available on your software release.
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 04/07/06 07:31 AM
There were only 23 timers. When you mentioned the option might not be available on my software release, do you mean WinAdmin software or actual Toshiba CTX100 software? Would an upgrade make sense?

Both in your case.

That's up to you if you absolutely need that feature. You'll also need to upgrade your WinAdmin.
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 04/07/06 12:15 PM
For only that one feature, I would say no. How would I upgrade both? I am not a professional installer. I just bought my phone system on ebay and figured out how to program it. Over the years I have helped a few people install Toshiba phone systems.

Hire one.
Posted By: petersog Re: Caller ID - 04/08/06 08:19 AM
and sometimes even we are unable to upgrade Ebay switches in the United States due to the fact they came across the border from Canada. You may save money at the moment but in the long run you are better off buying from your local Toshiba Dealer
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 05/18/06 09:59 AM
Earlier I asked questions about timers in my CTX100 system. I would prefer to see the number I dialed rather than a timer. The number I dial switches to a timer almost immediately after I press the last number. Is it possible to change this setting?

Thanks,
John
Posted By: phonemeister Re: Caller ID - 05/18/06 10:12 AM
Isn't that the same question you just asked above?
It is possible to change that timer but you have to upgrade your software on the CTX.
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 05/18/06 01:05 PM
It was close. For incoming calls, I would prefer caller id to the timer and for outgoing calls, I would prefer my dialed number to the timer. With all the timer choices, I thought there was a chance I could do at least one of the above.

Then try system timer FB 24.
Posted By: Old blond hippity hopping Bunnie Re: Caller ID - 05/18/06 06:31 PM
There is a new release 4 CIX CPU that you could buy to replace your CTX. I don't doubt that the dealer would load R4 on your laptop with the purchase.

I have my outgoing dialed number to 120 seconds, could be longer.
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 06/12/06 12:48 PM
A few weeks ago I asked about changing the timer on my CTX 100 because I wanted to see the caller-id longer than the default. Phonemeister suggested changing timer #24. My list of system timers in WebAdmin only goes up to #23. Some people on this board suggested upgrading. A local phone installer gave me a price quote of [please do not post pricing] to upgrade my Toshiba software and WebAdmin software. My current WinAdmin is version 2.10D and my CTX100 has software version AR2.10 MG018.00. He said I could only go up to version 3.1 because of my processor limitation. Does anyone know whether this upgrade is reasonably priced and whether it will do what I would like? Any additional comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
John

If your "local phone installer" is an authorized Toshiba dealer I would upgrade. Toshiba had numerous upgrades each usually adding or fixing something in the software, as noted by phonemeister's post your software is Release 2 and you will jump to Release 3.
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 06/12/06 06:07 PM
Do you know much about release 3 versus release 2? Do you think it will have more system timer options?
Posted By: newtecky Re: Caller ID - 06/13/06 08:30 PM
Your software version is from 2003. There have been a lot of enhancements over the years; auto Daylight saving, telephone admin, page disconnect, 16 char phone names, enhanced DSS, more night keys and lots of little fixes. I don't see any other timers besides #24.

Biggest change going to 3.1 is that is supports a new IP card, the LIPU, and they started calling it a "CIX". It also started requiring that you use eManager, which is the replacement of WinAdmin.

If you can get the latest copy of eManger and connect to your system, you'll see a lot more greyed out items, some items that you would get under 3.1 (some items will be for ver 4.1 which you can only get from replacing the proccessor)

Make sure they have the latest version (3.10 MK043 as of today). Back up the system! Upgrade shouldn't take more then about 30 minutes.
Posted By: ringtone Re: Caller ID - 06/13/06 08:47 PM
You have been a great help Newtecky. It really does sound like I should upgrade. Since my main reason for upgrading is for additional timers, what does timer #24 do? You mentioned that I would need eManager. How is eManager to program compared to WinAdmin?

Anyone have recommendations of a phone installer in the New York area?
Posted By: Old blond hippity hopping Bunnie Re: Caller ID - 06/16/06 12:22 AM
I have not seen Abe Lemmer for a long time, but he was a very competent and competitively priced Toshiba dealer in NY. The number I have for him is 718-230-9292.

I don't know if that area code has split or not.

That is the Caller ID timer mentioned in the previous posts. Emanager is pretty simular to WinAdmin. Some stuff got moved. Some stuff added for new features.

eManager question:

I am having trouble running emanager on my computer. The installation process look correct. I am using win2k and emanager 4. When I click on the desktop icon, a window opens and it stays blank. The blue line at the bottom never goes past half way. Do I need to use a win xp machine?
Posted By: newtecky Re: Caller ID - 06/18/06 07:58 PM
It says it needs WinXP. I have heard of it running on a Win2K before.

First try turning off ALL firewall, popup blockers, and virus protection. Some, like Norton, will block scripts from running.

Make sure SQL server is running also.

Check IIS to make sure the website is set up correctly.
