I have two Questions on GLX 12.
The first is I lost all sets when I shorted a set, Replaced fuse #2 and dial tone came back but incoming calls do not ring!
I tried to re program moved Prgm switch to on
went to the closest set hit #01 and then line 1 and line 2 pick up and hang up, moved switch to on but still no ring.
After search I found that everything said to use #2 and L-1 L-2 pick up receiver and hang up. Is that all there is to it??
Also how do I get the intercom to hands free mode?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Yes, #(pound)2 and hit your lines lift and replace handset. I don't have a user guide in front of me at the moment but if no one answers your handsfree question I will repost a bit later.

O K I am going back up to the business and give that a try. The info that I had found with the system said to use #01 was that a old instruction, anyway it did not work.
Thanks for your help,

For handsfree intercom:
Program switch to on.
Go to keyset (phone) dial #(pound sign)32. Pick up and then hang up handset.
If that doesnt work try just dialing #3 and then pick up and hang up handset.
Last step is program switch to off.

I have a feeling that #3 is going to be the one that works for you.

RCA, Again almost everything works just like you posted!!

I have 8 out of nine sets working with hands free on the Icom but one will not work with either number 3 or 38. What am I doing wrong???
Do I need to erase something at that set and re program it?

You might want to check that the station is not in DND. What exactly is the phone doing?

Thanks,
The Phone will answer with the hands free on a incoming call and you will hear the I C announce (voice) but you have to pick up the receiver to talk to the other end.
I did not see a Do Not Disturb button, how do I check?
I think I looked up these sets and they are(from memory) 4200's. The other 8 sets work just like you said all ok except this one !! :bang: :bang:

Thanks, I haven't yet, but that is the first thing I will try.
This phone and system were working fine before I tried to correct a jack problem and blew a fuse!!!
That is the reason I did not try and switch phones as it was the most used phone on the system and it was working fine, the other 8 came back fine, but not this one. What a looser this little job has turned out to be!!!
Thanks for all of your help I will be back up there tomorrow and try the phone swap

Are these Inter=tel phones that sensitive that they just brake when a fuse is blown?
I guess I should start looking for another set to replace the IC phone that does not work.

,,,,,,,,,,,NOTE to self, turn off power when working on hard wire problems on Intel!!

Anything is possible when fuses blow, but the older Inter-Tel GLX phones where very solid.

There isnt much to this sytem as far as programming. That said, you could default the programming. At that point you would just need to reprogram the ringing and set your #38 for offhook answer. This little system can be programmed in about 15 minutes. This might save you a headache. Before you do this, ask them if they use speed dialing because all these numbers will be wiped out of course.

Send me a PM for default procedures if you get to that point when your onsite.

We have the Inter-tel GLX phones and we recently moved a phone to a new desk. When the phone was moved the programming was gone and we now can not get the auto answer to work. I have toggled the box to program, pressed #38 on the phone and lifted the handset and hung up. I do get a confirmation tone; however, when I try to answer the phone by lifting the handset it still does not answer the ringing line. It worked just yesterday before we moved it. Could there be something else I'm missing?

Are you sure the phone rings. It must be programmed to ring for that feature to work. #2 press lines buttons, lift/replace handset.

Thanks for the info. I tried the programming #2 and pressed each line button. And got the confirmation number on it too. But the phone is not ringing.

I want to take a handset OFF of handsfree intercom. Will #32 do that, or do I need another code?

I don't have my documentation with me at the moment, I rarely work on this system and have forgotten half the codes. I will respond back later today if someone doesn't post.

Hello R C A,

I had another call from my friend with the Intre-tel GLX and this time all of the ringing features went "South" so I did the P/on and # 2 and
P/off trick and L-1 L-2 started ringing just like the last time.
Same problem 2 weeks later rining went "South" again, is there something taking this out? I did notice that the green power light is NOT lit but everything was working and I had a good outside (twist in) fuse and had power at the recep. 120VAC. Is the green light to be lit when the system is NORMAL?
When does the red light come on, is there one?

Thanks again for your help.
Bob

You have had loss of programming in the past, for no reason.

This indicates most of the time, your Lithium battery is not retaining the program of the system

I thing its about seize of a quarter .
It is located on the main PCB in the ksu.

Every time a surge in power you lose programming.
If battery is bad.

IMHO if you plan on working on this unit, get a manual.

Hello R C A,

I just returned from my GLX system amd I have line 2 ringing at all stations, but line 1 will not ring.
There is dial tone at the sets you can call in and out, when you call in you get a indicator light on line one but no audible ring at ANY sets.
When I was at the KSU and I had all power turned off to check the A/C, when I turned it back on and flipped the prog. toggle to on I noticed that the error light would flash 8 times!!! The green power light was intermittent and would not stay on.

STSE Thanks for the info on the battery.

I will replace the battery and re-program.

In the future I hope not to have this account as it is out of my area of town. Thanks for the heads up on the manual, do you sell them?
