I am new to this list, but not to some of the posters on here. I collect mainly old Sumter SC made telephones and a little into payphones. I am especially looking for old catalogs, ads, and parts for the Sumter phones as I want to do a history on them. I do my best to be helpful to others and answer questions on most any subject. Rob

Rob:
I have an uncle named Sumter and he lives in Columbia. I'll ask him to take a look in his attic. Who knows what he might have?

Antique telephones or was that antique telephone men? Whattadidyasay, sonny boy? Speakup. All kidding aside, to the BB and especially this forum. Yep, I lived a lot of it but was a Bell guy so I didn't see a lot of the great stuff. Speaking of the great stuff, in Abilene, KS, just off I-70 is the Eisenhower Museum and behind it is the Ford County Telephone Museum...old phones from independent telcos. Well worth the stop if you are out that way. Again, aboard.

Ken, I'm ashamed to say that I lived in Salina (25 Miles West) for 12 years and never went to either museum. I did go to the Sports museum downtown, I had to install a phone system. And serviced and installed systems all around Abilene. And I lived in KC for 40+ years and only went to the Truman museum 1 time when my new father-in-law (a staunch Democrat) came out from Virginia and wanted to see it. John C.
When I was young, I was Liberal. As I aged and wised up, I became Conservative. Now that I'm old, I have settled on Curmudgeon.
