Two things I don't understand here:

1) What kind of sicko gets their jollies by doing something like this?

2) How stupid do you have to be to think you won't be caught?

I think the net has grown so pervasive in everything that changes need to be made. No longer should it get the free ride that it enjoyed when it was just a curiosity. Make it pay for changes to the 911 system because of the problem it created.

Make it manditory FEDERAL time they do. A couple of years in Levenworth or the like and they wont do it again. Plus they should have to work at a crisis call center to see what goes on.

In Leavenworth???? I've been here a long time and they still keep doing it......

I think so, Hal - the crimes went across state lines.

I thought that Leavenworth was a Military Prision and the main US Federal one was in Marion IL. But then I'm in Canada and not sure where our Max Security Jail really is.

Back to Swatting, I guess that enforcement could be really hard as you could be calling the 911 PSAP from almost anywhere in the world and spoofing your number to be local. I am sure that the RCMP would not turn you over to the FBI if the calls came from Canada.

It is. But they don't discriminate. Anyone that screws the pooch bad enough can get a room there.

I've heard it's one place you don't ever want to find yourself in.

Okay, off topic but for clarity....

Ft. Leavenworth has the maximum security MILITARY prison. A combined separate medium security military prison next to the USDB is under construction. This is where the Gitmos were supposed to go............. :rolleyes:

Leavenworth has a medium security CIVILIAN prison (where Micheal Vick is currently residing). Formerly this facility was MAXIMUM as was Atlanta, Columbus, and Alcatraz. Now Marion is MAX with 7X23 lock down. Florence is also similar but the dead end that Leavenworth used to be is now Marion.

We also have the state civilian prison and a contracted US Marshal's holding prison.

Prison City is an apt name.

Now then, back on topic, the swatting does cross state lines, and, depending on the tracking, it could even come under the Homeland Defense "hang 'em in Gitmo" jurisdiction.

Basically these guys are idiots.....
