I am working up an estimate for a customer. They currently have an Emerald ICE that's configured 18X48 and it is working ok for them except for a small ACD group they are running, currently 1 agent with a backup. I have a 3rd party call que-er queue their calls that handle the single agent, but they are wanting to expand.

The questions I have is - how well is the SKW cards working in the field. We got an early one and weren't impressed.

Next, which would you recomment, uCMC or WiCMC?

Wicmc every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

If they have enough money I would try and talk them into a T3.

Just talked to the Boss and was told uCMC over WiCMC. Hmmm...

Why do you say WiCMC? It's all I've installed so far and except for having to reset ports occassionally, seems like an ok product. Do uCMC have problems?

The first UcMc's were horrible. I guess the reason I like the Wicmc over the UcMc is just what I am used to installing. It is easier if you have experience working on Active Voice products.

We installed two UcMc's about a year ago and have replaced them with Wicmc's mostly because the voicemail kept locking up. Also the WiCmC has been designed on proven technology where the UcMc may have been out as a voicemail for other systems but the integration to the Coral is problematic. Msg lights not coming on. Calls not going to the correct mailbox. Harder to configure if you are just looking for a point and click install and config.

The WiCMC has features that the UCMC does not have if I am not mistaken

Message Group options

Transaction Box functions

Unified Messaging

Ease of use for end user

Integration easier to trouble shoot

more options for users in mailbox menu's

The only thing The UCMC does better I would say is the fact that you can have Multiple CCR menu's going at the same time. I had one customer that used the UCMC as an IVR. They had all of the CCR Menu's going at one time for their different companies they were taking orders for. It was a call center and they were too cheap/no credit to buy a Composite Contact Center solution.

The ONLY thing I liked more on the uCMC is how it handled emailing voicemail messages. Mainly because you never have to touch the customers machine to install an Application like ViewMail.

I do not think so, according to the brochure it works on the IPx line; but the uCMC works on the ICE system.

I'm talking about in an IPX series. I'm just trying to understand the companies decision to install uCMC over the WiCMC.

Reataylor, I have installed several UCMC I have not had any real issues that could not be resolved. I have been told by many people that the WiCMC is better. I can't say for sure as I have had good luck with most all Tadirans products, including the ICE. I have a customer that we had to just get into the WiCMC for the Distribution mailboxes.

I have installed both and the WiCMC is a better system. I would have to say the FIRST and foremost reason being that the software key is a USB dongle and not some eprom on the board that is tied to the serial on the hard drive unit. This makes us able to replace the hard drives in the field if you use ghost.

I'm not thrilled with the uCMC myself. I have one, it runs but the configuration is pretty poor. My vendor has offered me a great deal to upgrade/side-grade/whatever-you-want-to-call-it to wicmc, but money is tight at my site.

I'm running an older version (1.something) but uCMC didn't pass even a rudimentary inspection by our security crew so no unified messaging is in use. The remote mgmt interface is very buggy and IE only (and only works with IE7 with issues). There also seems to be a lot of software bloat.

I only wish there was a better upgrade path to the wicmc. If we could migrate greetings, announcements, and other configs I think I'd have a much better time selling it to the bosses. UCMC makes me wish I was still using the Repartee system we replaced with UCMC 7 or so years ago.

I think if you refresh your bosses memory about how the good ole days were with the Repartee, that could be your selling point on upgrading to the WICMC... You may also want to talk to them about doing the Seamail..

Seamail?

Sadly the boss from the Repartee era is a good 2-3 bosses back and has his own system, in another state, to worry about. A couple of big Nortels, which means a lot of fun when I'm trying to translate Nortel <-> Tadiran as far as which feature is which. Then we have some Cisco gear so that's a third set of terms for the same features.

Sorry,

Tadiran has a product they are marketing from Teledata called the T3. I had one in my office. Pretty slick. I think they have a SIP compliant voicemail system out there now.
