Hey guys I have a customer with the ZT824/1632 system it currently has an 8 port trunk card in it and a 4 port trunk card. The 8 port card is currently operating trunks 1-4 and that is all the trunks the customer has. Ports 3-4 have bad cross talk on the CO lines on all calls. I am wondering can we simply replace the 8 port card with the 4 port card since they only have 4 trunks. And if I do that is there any programming involved or will it just work? As always your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
FLDiver

OK so you can put the 4 port card in the same slot as the 8 port.....Trouble is I still have xtalk on lines 3 & 4......Ive narrowed it down to either the interconnect board where the amphenols plug into the system or I guess maybe the backplane of the KSU.......

Take it off the wall and pull the back cover. Bet you find a clpping or 2 (Or a bug) that's causing the problem. You might open the amphenols and loo, as well. John C.

Like John said, but also check inside the cabinet for lots of piled up dust. It's a ZT-D. It's as old as dirt to start with, so check for dirt and corrosion on the little metal jumpers on the backplane.

The source of your trouble is more likely a wet wire somewhere, but cleaning out the cabinet won't hurt. A problem in the cabinet itself isn't impossible, but it's unlikely, unless it's suffered some kind of storm/physical damage recently.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.
