I hope this message is not out of place because my request is kind of unique.

I am a telecom consultant based out of Atlanta. I deal with customers across the country in finding data/phone providers. I do not do any sort of installation work *at all*.

As you can imagine, I have many customers that ask me for referrals to qualified network and telephone system installers.

I am attempting to build a list of qualified installers that I can refer my customers to. While I do not have any current referral needs, I run across them quite frequently.

Thanks for all the replies. I believe that I have responded or emailed each of you personally and have added you guys to my personal list.

However, now I have another dilemma.

As you all know in my email I sent to each of you, one of the companies I consult for maintains an automated system and I also gave everyone the opportunity to sign up for that.

Well I had an installer sign up for the Northern VA/Washington DC area. Apparently, this was a geographic area we were lacking in because the automated system has sent this installer six leads in the past week. Five of them were phone system leads and one was a network lead.

However, the only problem is that none of them have been answered and I can't get this person to reply by phone or email so I've got six good leads floating out in limbo.

I know I had a few installers in the VA/DC Area that chose not to become part of the automated list - However, if you've changed your mind or if there are any new people out there - I could really use your help.

Again, these leads all appear to be in Northern Virginia/Washington DC area. I don't know how many we can salvage as some are a week old - they may have found alternate solutions.

I apologize to anyone that has emailed me and hasn't heard from me. I have been under the weather along with the entire house.. A virus has made the rounds twice through my household. Then we've had the whole holiday thing.

I will try and catch up and get in touch with anyone who has emailed me over the past two weeks or so.

We are a company in the Burlington Vermont area with certifeid Avaya, Samsung & Nortel technicians in our Telephone Division. Our Data Division contains technicians certified in many cable manufacturers structure systems along with Corning Fiber Optics install test & certify. We employ Fluke test gear to certify all cabling. Then we have our Electrical Division with our electricians & 24 hour Service team.

They provide the leads and I made my own price and terms and left with a check after installing a 280 .It was the first one also.
They obviously are looking to sell circuits ,but
have a very efficent system and lead pool for eq sales.

I had 3 leads.1 i did, the other 2 i kicked back due to travel distance.Did speak to 1 of them and they were looking for a remote office off there norstar due to volume issue on transfered call.I explained why the volume dropped and recommended a solution but explained i could not support her due to 120 mile 2 plus hour drive i also have no urge to sell or support products just MAC work and consult.I also scan the lead pool every day there are jobs in NYC area and Virginia

This turned out to be a connection to the "VAR Network" which is run by Telaurus. As someone else mentioned, they're looking to get referrals for circuit prospects in exchange for leads on equipment sales/service. Their site has high search engine placements for equipment-related searches but a lot of the leads are pretty tenuous and don't pan out for much. Most of the inquiries are either from large metro areas (IOW, "I've ticked off the tech who's been working on my system and now I'm looking for another sucker." or from places so remote that the customer is getting desperate to find somebody.

I'm located somewhere in between major metro and deep boondocks but I actually got several decent leads and a few paid out. Unfortunately, if you don't have a lot of leads to give them in return (IOW, start selling your customers on their circuit services), the leads start drying up.

I have been contacted by the lead referral program, they want us to attend conference calls a pep talk basically, still waiting for referrals to pan out, personally think it is a big waste of time.

I apologize for my extended absence from the board. I have done my best to keep up with all the email responses that I have gotten. I can't even begin to say for sure how many responses I've gotten but the response was huge.

I just wanted to take a moment to address a few concerns posted. I think there are some misperceptions.

The program is in fact administered by Telarus Inc. of whom I am a certified product consultant. I do not want to violate any rules of this forum by posting links to my website or to the program or anything else. However, we do and are sending out hundreds of free leads per month. The site has excellent search engine placement and is completely legit.

We provide a backoffice for you to manage all the leads you are sent and many of the people that have signed up, including some who have posted they haven't got any leads, have actually gotten several leads.

Just to give an example:

One company here received 10 leads between 4/17/07 and 11/2007 but stopped receiving leads after not doing anything with the initial 10 leads.

Another poster has received 3 leads.

Another company has received 7 leads.

Two companies from here have received over 40 leads. Unfortunately one of them won't return my calls or emails and had to be cut off.


The number of leads you receive from me and the system will depend on geographic location, services offered, and the competition in the area.

Also to set the record straight, Telarus does a *TON* of training with their product specialists and their vars. They do send out alot of email regarding training programs.

They *do* send out legitimate leads which I hope I have demonstrated above.

Anyways, I apologize for not being more responsive. You have seen at least one poster claim multiple leads and successful sales as well as other people say they are getting leads.

Unfortunately, I can not control the amount of email the program sends out but I have referred several of my customers to the reseller program.

If you have signed up previously and would like to email me about your status in the program, please do, I would love to hear from you. You should have also gotten an email with my contact information.

If you have tried to contact me previously and I failed to respond, I sincerely apologize and would love to talk to each of you personally.

I saw some speculation that our real intention was just to drum up more T-1 leads. This is not the case. Selling T-1 circuits is the primary business of ShopForT1. However, you are personally attached to me if you sign up and I do not pressure any installers to send me T-1 business. Don't get me wrong, I won't complain if you do and the system automatically favors people who send business referrals back to us... but I'm content if you just help our clients service their needs.

Anyways, we can discuss this all personally if you like.

Sorry for the duplicate post... Since my original post 11/2006, the system has sent out 351 leads to my people alone. This is an average of about 22 leads per month.

The most successful VAR received 81 leads since signing up. Some have received 20, 30, 40, and 50. Most have averaged at least 10.

Out of everyone that signed up, only two have received no leads. I can't explain why other than their services might be too limited or haven't been requested in their area.

Anyways, I encourage anyone and everyone to call. Whether you just want to gripe at me, ask me questions, or sign up... I look forward to it. I promise to be more responsive.

I suggest that people sending email not post that they sent mail. I mean it makes for a very low content posting. The original poster will then get two messages, one that the board has an update and one that that someone sent mail to them.
