This thread was inspired by Jwooten is about the troubles that nobody knows but us when it comes to running wires.... dealing with construction techniques...no conduit in the walls....cross studs....lousy or no pull strings. Loose studs, hard ceilings, fire walls, double sheetrock insulation that kind of thing and how we overcome it without too much swearing.
I have run into so much trouble lately fishing some walls that I am thinking seriously about buying a fiber optic wireless camera just so I can see inside the walls.
I don't use D-Versa or equivalent boring bits. If the wall isn't fishable without using a six foot drill bit the cable is going on the outside of the wall in a nice section of Panduit or 3m cable molding. Time is money and I charge a flat rate for most cable runs.

That's why you always add 15-20% onto a quote and put a notice that it's subject to change . I just hate when I put the loop end of my fish up a metal studded wall without taping it closed in a rush and getting it caught on a self tap screw .

Derrick when you find a fiber optic wireless camera so you can see inside the walls. I would like to get one sounds like a great idea. I was also thinking about a hidden wireless camera for big construction sites to see who is stealing my supplies and tools. I only experienced theft on Union job sites! How much does a box of cat5e cost in your area? Went to a place today in Calgary and they wonted $180 ??? Usually get a box of cat5e for around $100 https://www.contact-directconnect.com

By far my biggest pet peeve are the idiots that close the walls, THEN call me in to run the wiring.
Even had one that closed them before any wiring or plumbing was done....thought we all had special tools to do it anyway.
Second has to be the contractors that install sheetrock on the basement ceilings.
Third the sheetrock installers that use their zip gun to cut out for boxes and cutting my cables to the point where they're too short to use.
Fourth would have to be the sloppy painters that paint over our cables so you can't see the markings, or worse paint a nice colour of "PUKE YELLOW" over the jacks & plates.

Here you go guys...I am ordering one of these unless I can convince my local supplier to drop his price. https://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/DURATOOL-22-10570-/22-10570 Not the best reviews but my supplier's demo works great...according to them. I plan on giving having them show me.

Had a real pain at work a few weeks ago...needed to move a TV and reinstall the bracket. I helped our cabling guy. Figured it would be simple...yeah right... Drywall, then metal running between the studs, then brick. Of course the top holes for the bracket were right where the metal channel was. Had to drill through the metal and then through the brick...it was a PAIN. To make it worse, we had to fish power (I KNOW) and video down the wall, again with that damn channel every few feet...
