If the dongle is dead it can be replaced and would be cheaper than buying a new voice mail system. I've only seen one dongle go bad and it was something I did. If you want your dongle replaced, shoot me an e-mail.

The comet voicemail software I am using cost me about $55 on ebay. The dialogic d41d ver3 voice mail card was about $100 on ebay. I installed them in an old 486at computer and they made a great 4 port voice mail with auto/attendant. I
feel kind of cheated though because it requires no dongle. This software is listed now on ebay at a starting price of $24.99 Guess I should have waited.

Most DOS systems did not require a dongle... the reason why was the operating system was doctor dos... it had embeded files that could not be copied...

Well, with todays technolgy that is no longer true....

I see some people have tried the Comet software. I have been trying it over the last 1-2 months and have been having problems with it taking and retrieving messages. The Comet people have tried to help me buy really can't get the system to work. I have an old voice mail system, 486 with 2 Dialogic cards, 8 ports, D420-SX. Trying to mate with Mitel SX100 217 generic software. This all worked up (for about 15 years) until several months ago. Original VM company long out of business and never would give us the software so we started over.
System comes up, will answer incoming calls, you can transfer to an extension and if person is there and answers the phone everything is ok.

The system will not ask you to leave a message when the phone is not answered or busy, it goes back to the original company greeting.

I think the Comet software is not recognizing which extension the call is coming back from and just starts over. Comet says they are not getting the info correctly from the call passed back and really don't know the Mitel equipment. Mitel programer says Mitel is working properly.

Comet now thinks they need some codes to enter into their software:

PBX in-band command prefix
PBX in-band command map
PBX in-band progress map
PBX in-band disconnect

PBX startup code

Some or all of these codes. Mitel programer says Mitel doesn't support the SX100 anymore so he can't get these codes.

Any suggestions or help out there?

Thanks

Chet,

When users call the voice mail hunt group do they auto login to their mailbox? The COV integration sends text strings to the card. If I recall a forwarded call sends "FROM XXX" and a user calling the hunt group sends "XXX CALLING". You can verify this by emulating a port with a Superset 4 station.
