DSX Deus,

I'm trying to dial another extension from inside a personal voicemail box. Dial 0 seems to be the only option that works.

I assume your in your mailbox checking messages and want to dial a coworker. If so, dial 9 to exit your mailbox and * to get to the AA. From there you can dial an ext. directly (using the default DAT entry for digit 3, UTRF XXX).

Close, but not quite. In this most recent case the owner has two extensions. When a caller gets his primary greeting, he wants to put in an option for the caller to try him at his other extension by dialing it right out of his voicemail.

Why not put both extensions in a ring group and use group voice mail. That way he only has one mailbox and both phones will ring when someone calls.

We'll be doing either that, or using forwarding, but if his extension is direct dialed it will bypass the group. Extension dialing out of voicemail is just nice on many levels and would be an excellent addition in my opinion. I have come across many, many requests for situations where it would fit the customer's need the best.

No problem, the system can already do exactly what you want. The key is to use the Dialing Options feature. Here's what to do:

1) Enable Dialing Option in 2144-03 (2214-03 for Ring Group mailboxes).
2) Select the next CRMB in 2144-04 (2214-04 for Ring Group mailboxes).
3) Select a DAT for the CRMB in 4222-01.
4) Add an entry for digit 3 as UTRF XXX (and digit 4 as UTRF XXX for 4XX extensions.) in 4231.

When the caller gets the mailbox greeting, they will be able to dial anything in the DAT. In this example, transfer to the extension by just dialing the 3 digits. You could also enter the extension directly in the DAT (i.e. UTRF 305 for example) and then they can transfer by just dialing one digit.
