This the first time I have had to work on Telrad System, and I'm am having a problem with starting the system up, it was not plugged in for awhile before we installed it if that makes a difference. Telrad was not helpful at all when I called them. The system was purchase in 1997.

DTMF,
When I tried to use the app. you sent me I recieved this error msg.:

This programmer version is incompatible with Digital Key BX Product Line.

Also I found 2 floppy's at the site.
One has:
file: medical.cfg
sbu5.03
The file on disk is:
medical.cfg

The other one has writen on it:
File name:
medical.gdb
medical.cfg
and the files on the disk are:
medical.apg
medical.cfg
medical.gbk
medical.gdb

Is this the orginal program config ?

They sound like backup copies of your current configuration. The .cfg is a configure file and the .apg is your application generator backup...I'm betting. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

What about the incompatible error message ?

Can it be re-configured from these floppy's with the version of software that DTMF sent me or do I need the old version that was used ?

I never have worked on a telrad 818 before now so be gentle, hehe.

I believe that I sent you the 818 software, you may be working with a 128, The floppies you have sound like customers backup files.

Did you ever pull out the MPD and get the system info and VER. That way we can be sure.

Look at the Tab of the MPD Card is it Orange?
If so its a 128 (S60 if in a 818 cabinet). If the Tab is Red and has 818 on it its a 818.

Now I have to get it up and running.

DTMF sent me the program SBU5 for the 128 also.

Which file should I use on the floppy's (that are listed above) to re-program the system.

Im going over to the site first thing in morning.

I'll let you know how it goes

Don't use any of the above floppy's, they are back-ups, use the 128 programming software, install that on your computer and connect to the MPD card, then when logging in it will ask for the CFG file use medical, it won't find it on your computer but should give you the option to load it from the system. Then go at it. DTMF or SS can help you with anything else, also make sure you have the interface cable that connects to the MPD card or you've wasted a trip.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

Load the software I sent you then create a new file and then back up the programming to that file then you can see how it's set up and change what you need to. Don't use the floppy's that you found.
Sorry it took me so longbut i was out in the field the last couple of days.

DTMF I took the .exe and .ini file edited the .ini file from SBUM5 to SMU5 and that worked and then it would let me pick com ports and log into system.

I was told by another tech that the ext.s were wired wrong, that the telrad's are wired a standard system, and that's why the phone's where not working.

I'm going to check the connections, but I bet that's the problem.

I did not do the wiring I trusted it to someone else, my mistake if the what it is ?

Just a word of advice. Do a system backup then default the system then do a complete restore from your backup. The way I read your post (I took the .exe and .ini file edited the .ini file from SBUM5 to SMU5) could mean you still have 818 programming in the 128. That will be trouble.

The led on the MPD card has never been on since the first time we powered up the system.

Two leds on OCD card come on for about thirty seconds and then go out.

The led on ELD card stays on.

Does this mean the MPD card is not working ?

NO everything is working fine probably!!

You have to link up with your pcp programing software (use pcp sub5.10). you have to make a cable to link up with the mpd card to your computer. this will allow you to see what cards are working and to programing system. here's the pin out for that cable. go to radio shack and get a 9 pin female comport cable connector (for compuet end) and also a 8-pin module pulg (for mpd end). mpd pin 4 goes to pin 5 on 9 pin com port 5 goes to 3, 6 goes to 2.

then link up, in pcp software go to connect direct to system select the com port on your computer and connect at 4800 baud rate.

The jack side is standard but on the break-out side you skip the third pair on each port. So you would have a total of 8 stations on the ELD card with a empty pair between them. you can also pair the ports up and run 16 off one ELD but we won't get into that just yet.
Let me know when you are going out there again and I will try to be in the office so we can get this taken care of.

We are going back out there Tuesday morning.

This thing is got us fit to be tied.

I know it's something stupid were doing wrong but I we have no experience with the TELRAD SYSTEMS and we just can't see what it is.

We wired it the way it said in the manual.
Once we realized that it was not wired like the standard system, such as the Panosonic's etc...

This system is a little more diffult than other pbx's. You might have to dn the station. the 1st port on the eld card could be programed to be any ext. but it is usally 20 or 220 or 200. Put a display set on the 1st port on the eld card( this is the white/blue and orange pair on the 25 pair cut down) do at at the MDF. than tpye on the dail pad #- the ext number- than # again.

Hope this might help for monday.

You can leave off the first #. When you plug in a phone with 2 DN's programmed on the same port the phone will scan (MSG DND MUTE SPKR) this is asking for its DN. Enter the ext number (i.e. 200) then #.
Also Tech assistance is just a phone call away. See my profile for number.

Dtmf sent me the software for the 128 but my firewall changed the extensions to:

DKEYBX.zl3
INSTALL.zl3
SBU5.zl9
UDCLIP.zl9
UPDN.zl9

Can someone please tell me what the extensions are suppose to be so I can change them back or resend this program to:

[email protected]

or put the files in a folder and ZIP it and then send it to me.

If the program is in a file and zipped my firewall will not change the extensions.

Or are all the extensions suppose to be:

.exe

Tanx
