Just registered and wanted to say hello. I worked for Pac Bell (now SBC) for thirty years as a splicer. Some construction splicing, lots of gas pressure work, but mostly as a troubleshooter. I have spliced just about everything (I hate ickypic!)including single mode fiber from Eureka to Atascadero in CA. Also installed and repaired SLC 96, SLC 5, Timespan,etc. After goofing off for a year, I volunteered my time installing CAT 5 in the local school district, ending up going to work for them in the computer dept. Knowing my background, the maintenance dept has gradually increased my hours as the phone guy. Looking forward to talking with you all.
