*72 only works if you have this feature on your CO line(s) from your dial tone provider. If you want to forward his phone to his cell phone, you'll need to store his cell phone number in a speed bin, then forward the phone to this speed bin by dialing 640* plus the speed bin number. Dialing 640 alone turns this forwarding off.
Frankly, it will be a whole lot easier to just get call forwarding (*72) added to the main line. It is a small monthly expense, if there is even a charge for it at all.
