I have always liked the NEC brand, but they suffered a bit when they absorbed Nitsuiko. I wish I had gotten on the IP Office a bit earlier, but especially now that I can do Nortel sets, it's a no brainer. Margins on the IP Office are better than you think.

The IPO and NEC are both good choices and very popular. If you want something thats not sold by everyone else try ESI or TransTel.

I disagree Z-man. I think it was the other way around. The Aspire, when NEC absorbed Nitsuko, was FAR ahead of anything NEC had in that range of systems. Look at all the system SINCE then are all based basically off their (Nitsuko) systems. Now, if I could get NEC to lose those stupid CAP keys....

To all the NEC guys. Sounds like becoming a dealer and testing is not that hard, but how would you rate their tech support and is their a charge for each support call ? Like other key systems, how long till nec is gone !!

Thanks Gary S

I must mirror Coral Tech's comments about the absorbtion of Nitsuko.

To answer your question about training...
DSX on line training is free as far as I know.I am not sure of tech support for it. It is an over the counter product. The SV8100 (Which is a converted UX5000 which is a remodeled Aspire which is a renumbered Nitsuko i-series)is a dealer only product. I am not sure about the cost of training, since th elast time we had to pay was on the i-series, the rest have been online "migration" certifications that were free.
Tech support has always been free if you are certified. However, NEC does have "Care" tokens? not too sure if that is the wave of the future. Their tech support is very knowledgable, but sometimes not as responsive as other brands. As far as being around, their IP products are good, their "networked multi-site systems" have room for improvement. Their TDM products are great except for the occasion gain issues since moving to the UX5000 and SV8100. I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon.(Of course NOrtel probably felt the sdsame way 10-15 years ago)

I admit my experience with NEC somewhat stopped after I left employment with the last interconnect before I started my own company. We were the largest NEC dealer in Colorado. It was our flagship for sure. Lots of 2400, 2000, and EP I & II systems. Rock solid and pretty good systems. So I am only going on what some of my former co-workers told me about the "merge" of the two product lines.

The Panasonic KX-TA824 is quite alive and well. A very good basic key system. We are stocking their package with three phones, which is a great deal.

Bring Back Trillium! Mitel do you hear me?
They are not listening and besides the lack of dtmf end to end signalling made that system obsolete. Still I had a lot of good luck with that line.

The choices for a tdm/converged technology system are getting smaller. I am sticking with the SBX for small installs for sure. The bigger ones that are networked say 20 or more per site
the SBX is competitive but doesn't have the track record the XTS does but then neiter does the MBX, it has none at all, not in the states anyway. It has a lower price which is why the XTS is going away. It is too expensive to make a customized USA product any longer. Now it's one box fits all, wether you are in Brazil or Hershey PA...I think we will all have to make a shoe horn one of our installation tools if you know what I mean.
